Life's daily challenges
As a life-long artist ,one of my biggest challenges has been to find time for my art. When we are young, married, working full-time, and coming home to plan meals and trying to work together (when possible) to take care of the home... that alone is difficult. Then we had two amazing children. Children are blessings and we enjoyed every minute while they were little and growing up too quickly.
Life is not meant to be easy. We all need to take on our challenges and persevere through them in order to thrive and grow. My husband and I both come from wonderful families and feel so lucky. When our son was almost 3 years old, he contracted Spinal Meningitis and was deafened from it. After he recovered, we put him into a school for the 'oral-hearing impaired'. Within a month Carl began to hear using his hearing aid. One ear was unusable. That was a huge challenge for myself mostly, because I was home with him and our new baby, who was born one month after Carl left the hospital (a 10 day stint!). There were plenty of frustrating times while Carl was not hearing much at all, but we worked on holding onto all the language that he had developed in his first 3 years. We found out later how lucky we were that Carl had those all-important first 3 years of language use!
Anyway, enough of life for now. I am working on doing the finishing touches to one small and one large painting right now. The third won't take a lot of time, but also has finishing work to be done. I usually have 3-6 paintings around to work on. In fact, I am thinking about what to paint next now also. Keeping busy!
